Recreation area at Postjeskade. Pedestrian paths with the water gardens along the waterways in Amsterdam.

This spring, the Urban District of Amsterdam West launched an open competition aimed at enhancing the West district. I enthusiastically submitted my proposal, titled "Recreation Area at Postjeskade: Pedestrian Paths with Water Gardens Along the Waterways," believing it would significantly elevate the quality of life for residents.

To my delight, the outcome surpassed my expectations. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who voted for and supported my project with their likes and comments. I also appreciate those who provided constructive criticism, as differing perspectives are invaluable in refining ideas.

Among the concerns raised were potential noise disturbances and security issues for nearby residents. I've addressed these by incorporating a gap between the pedestrian path and adjacent buildings to deter unauthorized access. Additionally, the inclusion of reeds and other tall plants along the path will serve as a natural sound barrier, reducing noise pollution. In fact, I anticipate that the overall noise levels will decrease, thanks to the improved acoustic properties of the environment created by the plants and sidewalks.

What benefits would have the Residents:

- will have an access to the canal with a beautiful panoramic view where they could have a rest after busy working day.

-will have seating places along the canal.

-will be able take the sun bathes during the sunny days.

-will have eco -friendly green environment which increases biodiversity.

- will interact with the nature.

-will have aesthetically attractive area with lots of greenery.

-will have a noise protection from outside thank to tall water plants line.

- will have extra protective green barrier to prevent potential penetrations of bulgaries from the broadwalk side.

-will have an area free of crowds, noisy motor boats.

As a garden designer and landscape architect, I am driven by a desire to enhance the living environment in Amsterdam, transforming it into a haven for residents and a memorable destination for visitors. I hold onto the hope that, one day, the municipality will allocate the necessary budget to bring this visionary project to life.
