Finding a balance in imperfection. My sketching’s story
The very first thing I do when starting a new garden design , park or landscape design project are hand drawing sketches. This is where the general idea becomes alive.
I must admit that it was a long way when I started to like my own sketches. I made many mistakes as any beginner in sketching: problems with false perspective, disproportion of objects, too much detaillisation when you lose the sense of the drawing process. Taking time to analyze my mistakes , I got my lesson.
I think the main challenge for me was to set aside the eraser, a small piece of rubber. You might wonder- why so? Well, there is always a strong temptation to erase the very first unperfect line of your drawing. Do not fool yourself, the eraser rubber would not help you to prevent your mistakes, it uses up your time, energy and gives more regrets. But who knows where this perfection can lead to ,trying to achieve this unattainable standard? Making chaos with the not accurate lines might create a masterpiece. Maybe there is a harmony in the chaos of hand drawing sketches, a personal signature of an artist.
I have tried various techniques - pencils, pens, pastel chalks, aquarelle colors, monochrome and colorful drawing, still discovering my own technique.
